Miquel’s Diving Dive Center
Gorontalo lies along the northern coastline of Tomini Bay in northern Sulawesi Island, Indonesia, about an hour’s flight from Manado or Makassar. Towering limestone cliffs plunge directly into the sea. In much of eastern Gorontalo a narrow, shallow coral shelf rims the coastline.
Often this shelf is only a few meters wide and bottoms out within a few meters of the surface where the coral wall begins. Because of its limestone base, this wall is highly eroded by natural forces, making for some of the most diverse marine substrate found anywhere. Clusters of dramatic buttresses alternate with deep chutes. The wall itself is chocked full of holes, crevasses, fissures, and caverns. Pinnacles are common, as are muck basins.
In the center of the Coral Triangle, Tomini Bay has well over 500 species of hard corals. Various new or endemic species are found here including gigantic, surreal Salvador Dali sponges and the very cute Blue belly blenny.
Miguel’s Diving offers certified scuba divers two to three dives daily to about 30 dive sites within at most one-hour’s speed boat ride. Diving includes caverns, muck, pinnacles, walls, submerged points and wrecks.
Please be aware we are a seasonal operation open from November to April.
